28-29 hood shelves a PIA!
I finished installing the passenger side front fender on my 29 tudor today. Boy installing the hood shelf was a P.I.A. ! A 4 layer metal sandwich (Shelf, Fender, Frame, and Splash shield) that all has to line up and be screwed together was NOT easy. I have no idea how they did that on a moving assembly line. Which I guess is the reason Ford dumped the idea in 1930. I agree!

Boy those colors look nice and shiny, hope none of the paint got scratched putting back together.
I scraped the hood corner on my newly painted headlight bucket of the '33 after some engine work and my eyes always zero on that. Great job!!!!

That's exactly how I felt when putting them on my roadster a few years ago. And exactly how I did it, lots of drift pins and a few good friends tweaking things until they lined up. It is hard to imagine them being put on while the car went past on the line.

Yes there will be a few touch ups that will be needed when I am done. At least lacquer is easy to blend, and I have some very good (but expensive at $100 per gallon) blending solvent for the black urethane enamel on the fenders. |

Another warm day = progress. I went through all the fender & running board bolts to double check that they were all tight and ready to go. Then I got the "ol' girl's" face back on including her jewelry (the fog lights I am going to use as signal lights). I'm getting closer to driving every day!

ooh I love it! Someday I will be at your stage...did you remember to get a good ground for your headlight bar?

I think so. I put a washer in the "cup" area that holds the headlights to keep them from being covered with enamel when I painted it. But I guess I'll find out when I wire the headlights up and give them a try!
