Kw tool for rear shackle bushing removal??
Gentlemen: I am restoring an original rear end differential, and have run into a problem. The sleeves (bushings) for the spring shackles are very much stuck in place, and evidently someone tried to remove one in the past, as it is partially out toward the front. QUESTION - Did KW or anyone make a removal tool for this problem?? I can certainly come up with a few clever pieces of pipe/tubing -or- have some appropriately sized steel sleeves fabricated. Any thoughts??

Round off the head of a bolt on a bench grinder just smaller than the outside diameter of the bushing. Put the bolt through the hole and drive head in until flush with the perch eye moving the bushing out. Turn the bolt around and finish driving it out. Use at least a grade 5 bolt. Never had to heat one yet.

Do you have access to a lathe? If so, make a removal tool yourself. I don't recall what the large ( O.D.) dimension is, but the bushing I.D. is 14.5 MM (Yes, that's one of the few metric dimensions on a Model A) IIRC it's around .568, But my memory isn't so great any more, so check it out. Good luck!

use a bushing driver. the spring needs a solid backing. if you have a narrow hack saw, cut the bushing in half and punch it out in pieces.

I agree with the hacksaw method and then using a bushing driver. I use the inexpensive kit from Amazon. I've used this tool a lot over the years. Worth having in the tool box. These old bushings can be frustrating sometimes!
