Windshield - what goes here??
What type of screw goes into the two holes at the top of the windshield frame and what do they screw into? The hole extends into the channel that holds the rubber seals. Is this intended to hold the seal in place and the screw just threads into the seal? Or is there a nut on the back side of the seal?

Re: Windshield - what goes here??
Your windshield will not come apart without that screw. Kind of belt and suspenders.
There should be an L shaped piece of metal inside that slips into the top and into the side. The screw goes into that and holds the top to the side. A link to buy the bracket. https://www.brattons.com/closed-car-...r-bracket.html This is the L shaped bracket. There is also a flat "L" shaped Tab in there with a screw and nut through it. Very short screw.

Re: Windshield - what goes here??
Jason,
Thanks for the response. I have the piece you are talking about and the screws fit into the side of the frame as you state. But mine also has two holes at the top (one each side) as shown in the photo. There was a screw of some sort in them when I took the glass out. Just too old and forgetful to remember exactly how they fit. |

Re: Windshield - what goes here??
There is also a flat L shaped tab in the skinny thin outter facing piece that a shallow screw goes in.
These say for open windshield so probably aren't the correct screw, but it's something like this. https://www.brattons.com/open-car-wi...me-screws.html Sorry for the large photo, but on the piece of just the top, you can see the little flat "turn downs" that are like a flattened tape measure metal. That is what this screw would go through.

Re: Windshield - what goes here??
Here is another picture... The screw that goes in from the front has a nut on the back and is a very short (about 1/4").

Re: Windshield - what goes here??
My pickup is a closed cab.
But, it's entirely possible that at some point the windshield frame was replaced or maybe assembled from parts including the ends from an open car....I don't think the windshield is original, but it's been there a long time...

Re: Windshield - what goes here??
Same screw holes on 28/29 ccpu windshield frames. There is a nut that hides in the rubber seal area and is surrounded by the rubber seal. Yes the screw is a very short screw. Yes it is factory.

Re: Windshield - what goes here??
Thanks Jason. That flat piece is what I didn't see looking into the hole. I have ordered a screw kit which includes the nuts. Thanks.
