My question for Ron is why not just change rims. New ones with offset and rim width you want would be cheaper than changing to 5 on 4 1/2. Pretty sure |

Re: 15 inch Wheel ID
The tire shops recommend replacement after 5-years but they do want to sell tires. They will last longer than that but 10-years is starting to get on a fine line between safe and dangerous. We never even thought about it when we were kids but the wisdom of old age puts things in a different perspective.

Re: 15 inch Wheel ID
The 16s and over might be the majority of tires in the future (whenever that is) but they will be for those modern large wheels wheels with the ultra low aspect ratio. Won't do you any good on an old Ford anyway.

DD ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yup DD, I have got 15 x 5.5" wide and 15x6" wide steel wheels off both '65 and '66 Ford 1/2 tons, and all had the "innie" hubcap nubs. BUT, I did get a set of 15x6" wide steel wheels off a late build '66 Ford 1/2 ton, that did have the "outie" hubcap mounting tabs, so I'm thinking '66 was a transition year for "innie" and ''outie" Ford 1/2 ton wheels... Edit to clarify, that these pickups with the 15x6" were in an old junk yard in the late 80's and they were telephone pickups, the kind with utility boxs on them. .
