Bill, if I have anything to say about it (and you know I will) my grandson will be a Flathead Fanatic...

We had a "full House" for the long weekend, including a visit from my Grandson. Here he is with me, behind the wheel of the '39 CS... I think he's a natural Flathead Fan...

In our continuing saga of one step forward, two steps backwards, with Don's '50 Convertible, we've found that some needed parts are missing from the assorted baskets that came with the car. What we need is the Release Equalizer Bar, the spacers and anchor bolt. If any of you Shoebox guys have an extra or know where we might find one, please let me know. I checked the Shoebox Ford web site and they show the part (used) however they are/were taking inventory and not answering the phone...

Went to a local restoration shops BBQ and car show yesterday, didn't bring a camera Saw some really cool cars including a '36 Studebaker Dictator Coupe... I'd almost think about trading one of our Flatheads for that car...

I know, I know... I can't believe I didn't bring a camera or even a good phone to take photos with... We drove our '63 Avanti to the event (it now has functioning AC), so my wife wanted to take it... At the event, there was also a nice, mostly original, '49 "Baby" Lincoln ForDor Sedan, about a dozen Model T's and some assorted non-Fords, LOL There was also a beautiful red and white '59 Fairlane 500 Retractable with full continental kit, stainless skirts, etc...

I got a call from Don this afternoon, he told me that everything he ordered for the '50 convertible clutch linkage, etc. was delivered today so... I hope we'll be able to make some progress on his car this Saturday... I'm also planning on getting things buttoned up on the '39 LZ.

Well, we had some more Flathead Fun in the garage today. We continued doing the 'Flathead Waltz' (one step forward, three steps backward) with Don's '50 Rag Top... We did however make some good headway on finishing up the rewiring of the '39 LZ. And, as almost always, we finished the fun off with PIZZA...

Brendan,

Thank you for taking the time to visit, it was great to meet you. This past weekend we didn't play in the garage, as I hosted a reunion of most of the guys I hung out with in High School. We had a blast! Next weekend I hope to finish the wiring in the '39 LZ and make some more progress on Don's '50 rag top. I also want to get the '51 F-1 ready for the drive up to the Moonshine Festival on October 23rd.

Yesterday I ordered a 12 volt wiper motor for the '51 F-1 (LMC Truck says it will fit in the OEM vacuum wiper location, and not interfere with the OEM radio) The vacuum wipers work, but not well enough to deal with the heavy volume rains we get here in Florida so, hopefully the 12 volt unit will arrive soon enough for me to installed it before we leave for the Moonshine Festival on October 23rd.

Yesterday, Mike, Cliff and I, spent the morning getting the rear end installed in Mike's '41 Business Coupe. After that fun, Mike treated us to lunch (no, not PIZZA ). Today I spent the morning under our '51 F-1, greasing everything and checking the vital fluids, in preparation for out trek up to the Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville, Georgia. We'll be driving up as a group (the Cigar City flatheads) on Thursday, October 23rd. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

A question; have any of you had experience with the 12 volt windshield wiper motor that LMC Truck sells for the '51-'52 F-1 Pickup? I called LMC and asked if the wiper motor would work (fit) with the original radio installed. The lady I talked to, put me on hold and allegedly went to ask someone in their 'tech department'... She told me it would fit and work with the original radio installed. So, I ordered it... It arrived yesterday. My first disappointment, when I opened the box, was that the unit was made by Vintique (I've had nothing but bad luck with anything I ever got that was a Vintique product) The installation instructions were vague at best with respect to the unit functioning with the OEM radio installed, it did say that the mounting bracket drops down (from the wiper motor) and bolts to the firewall at the same hole used to mount the radio. I called LMC yesterday to confirm that the unit will fit and was told that they don't have any tech department...??? Additionally, there is a good amount of modification needed to mate the 12 volt unit to the OEM wiper linkage. I don't want to get into this swap, only to find out that the wiper motor won't work with the OEM radio. So, if any of you have experience with this particular unit, I'd appreciate some feedback, before I package it up and return it to LMC Truck. Thanks. Vic
