Default tri carb linkage

Took my flathead to the machine shop this morning for boring and machine work. There were finishing a 8BA in a 49 coupe.
The induction system is three "new" 97s on a Edelbrock with Speedway's progressive linkage.
Problem is the stock pedal linkage is flexing and not allowing the carbs to open fully.
Has anyone experienced this problem? Any ideas what can be done?
Thanks in advance

Must be to much tension on the return springs on the setup.
Secondary bases with return springs and the leverage added by progressive linkage and the return spring supplied with the kit adds up.
Can be a lot of reasons but to much spring tension is my guess.

The stock pedal linkage in the car is usually very flimsy also.
Progressive linkage is usually flimsy and spongy feeling by design.

Any multi-carb linkage should be set up and operating smoothly before the final tightening of nuts/studs on the bases to prevent throttleshaft binding.

For street use I set the end carbs to open 1/2 way, when the center carb is open alittle more than 1/2 way. This eliminates the end carbs coming in when not needed. I also set the center carb up alittle lean for mileage.. It's tricky getting the carbs and ignition working together, but the result is worit. The stop on the seconsaries can be moved if you want to bring them in earler. It's best to set thi up on the bench.
