Help me identify this part
It came off a Ford Flathead but I do not know what the part is for.

I bet a jar went under the black round piece and it was for Marvel Mystery Oil "injecting" for top cylinder lubrication.

1937pickup is right. The glass jar is missing that you would put in Marvel mystery oil or automatic transmission oil in and the idle type adjusting screw was the adjustment as to how much oil you wanted to inject into the running motor, this would lube the valves. If you opened it up too much the motor would smoke a little. These work great today with the nolead gas.
