Default Engine hoist in East Bay Area, CA

I am looking for suggestions on where to rent an engine hoist in the Alameda/Oakland/San Leandro area on 7/19. Any big chain retailers rent these?

Or, area there any hobbyists in the area that i could come by and borrow a hoist for the day?

I am going to be in Alameda for a while but plan to bring a motor home to Houston from my grandpa’s house.

Thanks in advance!
Alex

Look on Craigs list or get one from Harbor Freight. They are not the costly and you can resale after you use it.

Autozone has "Loan A Tool" prrogram ... Maybe other parts stores also.

Google search is your friend ... Find details at their website.

Do you belong to your local club? They might have one in their Club Tools inventory.

There is Hertz in Oakland-If you can wait I will find out on Monday as I drive past it. Where are you going to be in Alameda?

Mike, thanks, that would be awesome!

My grandparents’ house is off Otis near Grand - they were members of the Acorn A’s for over 35 years.

I rented a tow behind lift from my local ACE Hardware store that had a yard of rentable tools and machines. I had it back to the store within 3 hours having lifted my engine from the back of my truck and stuffing it into the roadster.

Here is what I found: there is Herc, Sunstate both right off 880 and hegenburger. I believe there is another off of hegenburger as well. Let me know if you need anything else.

If the garage has exposed rafters, a 2x6 spanning 4 rafters with a cable come along from home depot will easily support and pull an A engine. I'm in Alameda and not far from you. [email protected]

From what i remember, their garage is sheetrocked and enclosed so that won’t work. Good to know someone lives so close! I may end up just buying a hoist from harbor freight and bringing it with me from Houston.

You would think a Good Eagle Scout could rig up a block and tackle, and just slide the engine up a board.
Good Luck on the Big Lift in Alameda
