31
Is the 31 model a coupe the best one to buy? Just asking I have a chance to buy one and really don’t know what’s what on them.

Re: 31
I have a 31 deluxe coupe. It has cowl lights, a dome light, wood grain dash rail, and maybe a couple other things the standard coupe doesn't have. The engines in all coupes (and Model A's) are pretty much the same so that doesn't make any difference. The body style on 30-31 coupes, including the radiator height and wheel size, changed from the 28-29. I have heard a few people say the engine on 31's is stronger than other years, but I don't know if that is true. I think it is just a matter of preference rather than one year being better than another.

I happen to like Sport Coupes. People buy what looks good and is right for them, as they should. To me the condition of car would be more important than the year. 28 and 29 cars do have an older look than the 30 and 31. I have owned both styles. You’ll be happy with either. Enjoy. |

Re: 31
My best friend has a 29 coupe and I have a 30 deluxe . We have been driving them around for over 50 years. When traveled long distances he always wanted me to take mine as it has more leg room-has adjustable seat and more shoulder room. I'd say buy it!!

Re: 31
I would say buy a 1931 any body style . The later in 1931 the better. Ford was changing and upgrading right up to the end of production. I have a 1930 pickup that I have sort of put together from parts. Started with only a 1930 cab on a complete 1928 or 29 AR chassis. The frame was straight and in good condition so I decided to try and use it. I have a long long list of changes I had to make or upgrade to be able to use the AR frame. I can tell you from experience that ford made a lot of changes over the years and they improved the car. In my opinion the 30 31 car is the one to buy.

Re: 31
I have owned 3 Model A's, all 1931's. I like the '31s because like "bucket" said, they have all the improvements made along the line.

Re: 31
I have a 29 Special coupe and being 6 ft. 3" tall it has more headroom than the 30/31 but is a little narrower in the floor space, I think it has a more antique look than the 31 but I like them both.
