Default the last year for black fenders

I know the model A's all had black fenders, I was wondering what year Ford started body coloring the fenders, thanks Chuck S.

David's correct for U.S. production, but in Canada body-colored fenders, spare tire and gas tank cover, etc. were an extra-cost option during the '33 model year.

Hmm, not so sure about that. I have owned several, and seen many more, original paint 34's in colors other than black, and I have never seen one with black fenders. I have also never seen a 33 original paint car in a color other than black, with other than black fenders. Am I color blind ?

How many Canadian '33s have you seen? The body colored fender option is fully documented in the Ford of Canada Archives including price lists and photos. You can prove a positive, but proving a negative is a very tall order.

Maybe you should re-read the question, which was "...I was wondering when Ford started body coloring the fenders...?" Not when did Ford last paint the fenders black.

Ah yes, OK, I do now see the true answer that involves Canadian production. I stand corrected, having seen few if any original paint Canadian 33's. I am one of those guys who thinks seeing is believing, but I now realize I haven' t seen it all. David, your international knowledge of early Fords puts you in a different league and give us all an opportunity to learn more. Thanks.

Here's part of the documentation. Note that Ford of Canada was evidently still using lacquer for body paint unlike Ford U.S. which had switched to enamel with the '33 models.

David
I beg to differ. 1933 fords were painted in lacquer (the last year ) 1934 was the first year for enamel.
