Default 1928 oil pan

I have a 28 oil pan with the cleanout. The tray has 5, 1-1/2" holes in it that look factory. Seems like oil won't collect as quickly as with a regular tray. Should I use It, or switch it with one without holes?

The tray is a later modification done at the factory. It lets oil get back to the pan faster. I believe it was to try and stop oil from being forced out the filler tube which was an ongoing problem with these motors. To combat this problem Ford changed the filler tube 3 times and the tray at least 4 times including the one you have and one with 1" holes in the same place yours are and in 32 increased the size of the main part of the filler so as to stop the problem. I don't think you will have any problems using it.
