Carriage bolts for mounting body
Is there anyone else interested in having some 3/8-24x2 1/4 in carriage bolts made up like original. If the price is right. But what is the right price for them. Please let me know if you care or not maybe we could start with 100.

Re: Carriage bolts for mounting body
I am interested in this also. One of my former clients is a bolt manufacturer here in Portland, and they do custom runs. I don't have an original bolt, but if someone would loan me one (I'll return it), I could take it to them and ask them for a quote. Do we need nuts as well?

You might as well price them for the longer length and cut to the shorter lengths.

The nuts really are not that commonly available as an "over the counter" item due to their physical size. IMO, they are just easier to reproduce. |

Re: Carriage bolts for mounting body
I have purchase several sets of bolts/nuts from Roy. Most are very close to the originals in shape, however I have received some that are NOT even close to correct. One bolt I know is not correct is the rear body bolts used to attach a phaeton body to the frame. The carriage bolt head was too big by close to 1/8" in diameter. It is suppose to fit inside holes in the rear floorpan, but wont. I have had some other issues with his hardware, but he provides the closest bolts and nuts I have found.

Re: Carriage bolts for mounting body
Havy you tried contacting some of the larger impliment companies as Caterpiller, John Deere, Case etc to see just what kind of bolts they have?
I know one time I had to use a special Model A bolt (fine thread) to fix a John Deer Harvester just so I could keep harvesting! Might be worth your while to email or call these companies just to see instead of beating our heads against the wall. Pluck |
