Body to frame! Anyone ever have this?

Terry have you tried loosening/ removing the bumper brackets, then see if the body fits the frame? Just maybe your car was rear ended at one time and bent the brackets? Hang in there you will get it right!

Terry, a few years ago when I fitted the body to the frame on my Fordor I remember there were some domed rivets towards the back that created this same issue on mine. I am honestly not positive where the rivets were exactly, but I think they were to secure the rear cross member to the frame via the 45 degree metal piece. If you placed new welting, then you covered them up. I think I ultimately punched holes around them so that the body would sit down. I will do a little more research if you need it. Good luck

Y'know Lee, I've been looking at them and wondering....... But I would think that the sill manufacturer would have made some space for them. Let me look again. Maybe this is what people mean when they say "Tweaking" the wood.

I noticed on my Murray while working on the sub frames that the rivets holding the rear crossmember to the top side of the frame were keeping the subframe from setting on the frame webbing. I drilled a couple of relief holes at the rivet locations to allow the subframe to set correctly. There also should be large angled radiuses on the bottom of the subframe to allow access to the bolts that hold the rear bumper braces on.

Fred, The bend would create a different pattern of bend. This is something holding the body up at the rear. The front is laying down where it should be. But then there's those pesky bumper brackets. They're connecting ok. How do I get them down an 1/8 to 5/32 so the body lays flat on the frame?

I received an email from a friend that knows this body style very well. I never
thought too ask/say anything about the rubber that is tacked too the body
blocks on your car. I assumed (big mistake on my part) that ALL cars would
take 1/8"-1/4" for shimming. So,..here is 2 questions....

1. Are there/is there any rubber shims on your body blocks?
2. This is the quote on the amount of rubber shims,.." On average it should be 1/4"-5/16" uncompressed."

Rubber about 1/4" thick was originally nailed to the bottom of the sill at the body mounting bolt locations.
