When taking a sweeping turn in my"29 Sport Coupe I hear a metal against metal rubbing noise, only when there is a lateral force, never when driving in a straight line. Sounds like the brake drum against the backing plate or against the brake shoe. Could the axle nut be not tight enough. I torqued it to 125 ft/lb.

It sounds like your rear drum(s) are rubbing against the backing plate as you suggest. A simple fix is to install an axle shim(s) on the end of the axles. They can be purchased or better yet, you can make them yourself from a tin can!

If it's the front could be loose bearings.

I would remove the rear brake drums and see what's scraping. Bert's gave me a brake drum when I was there buying parts. The inside has a groove almost worn through to the outside of the drum. This was caused by the parking brake rubbing on the brake drum.

Yes, take each drum off and look for the shiny one where it is rubbing the backing plate or something else.
