Unscientific temp measure
I mentioned in a previous post that heat and humidity were high here now in WV. I remember my dad checking the radiator temp of his old pickup with his hand. If he could keep his hand on it for a second or two, he would declare it OK and on we went. I do not remember too many boil overs. If he could not keep his hand on the radiator, we stopped for a while and added water after a cool off. Don't think he used anti-freeze in the summer. Any similar unscientific methodology out there?

Re: Unscientific temp measure
Good method. I found that the temp that you could just hold on to is around 150 degree F.
I used a similar method for electrical components. If I could keep my hand on it, it was O.K. Marc |
