Default John Hollins-Orange County, Ca machinist out of business

I spoke with John this morning. He has sold his equipment and is not doing anymore machine work.

I don't know John or what he was capable of, but chances are, he sold the machinery to someone with no connections to model A s even automobiles. Try to get those fixtures before they are scrapped. Specialized fixtures for holding irregular shapes like heads and manifolds and what not.

And we're going to lose another one soon! Majewsi Machine on Arctic Parkway in Trenton. He has the Blanchard grinder and whatever fixtures are needed to grind model A heads and Manifolds. Like all of us, he's getting older. After that, there's always Windsor Automotive Machine on rt 130 in East Windsor, NJ. I think he's not much of a machinist but he has the equipment and he's expensive and has a lot of work. He charged me $65 to take .010 off my diesel head from my case 4 BT. J. Majewski would have charged me $40. After, them, I don't know who to call. There's always that speed shop in Bensalem, Pa, but he's expensive. He charged me $65 and got into an argument with his employee about him NOT charging me $ 80 to balance a flywheel. I've never gone back!

A super good auto machine shop (opened in the 30's if not 20's, I believe) in Orlando, Fla. Closed a couple of years ago with what I was told. One of the main reasons being it unable to compete with Mexican low pricing of diesel truck engine rebuilding. Fortunately, the shop foreman was able to acquire most of the Model-T and A engine building tools. He was and is a true artist
in engine work and retired to Georgia.
