Whichever paint system your painter likes is the best one. I like single-stage PPG best.

There are lots of great paint systems and paint companies. Unless you're going to leave your Model A outside 24-7, I'd use the least expensive one. Any one of them will probably outlast you and your heirs if it doesn't get scratched or chipped.

I have been using the Southern Polyurethane undercoats (SPI). The best I can tell they are quality paints at decent prices- based on experience and the lack of negative comments on the web. If you call the number odds are good you will get the owner and they are happy to help the restorer.

For top coat single stage PGG Concept. A high quality paint that can be buffed to give the appearance of the original sheen of the Model A. BC/CC will always be too shiny to look original. Your car, your choice.

Go with a name brand, use there complete line of products, primer, primer - surfacer, top-coat. This way if there's a paint failure you can go back to the supplier and they might help. I've always had good luck with PPG, Sikkens, BASF. What ever your painters happy with. Transtars a good line too. Not as expensive. To paint a car up here a full line of Sikkens will cost you around $4500.00
