Default Add Turn Sigs to My '41?

Am planning to modify the existing parking lights to be used as turn signals on my '41 p-u. I have the controller/flasher setup kit already. Stock 6 volt system. Plan to use brighter bulbs front and back. What have others done?

The previous owner of my ‘41 coupe changed the sockets to duel filament bulbs.

In my 12 v 41 tudor I tried the duap socket and wasn’t impressed with any bulbs I tried. I wanted Bright lights ( live in South Florida) so I added a separate wire , that supplies a led bulp . All fits nicely inside the original tail light . Almost like a older import that has 2 bulbs .

I'd happily go with the LEDs if the truck was 12 volts but the stock 6 volt
setup limits my options.

My '41 was already changed to turn signals(6V) when we bought it. they removed the socket from the f. turn signals and soldered in a dual element bulb socket( 1156 I believe) to give park & turn in the front. the stop lights will run thru the turn signal switch so you'll have to disconnect one stop light from the other (giving you one stop/ turn on one side) and you'll have to run an extra wire to the other stop light socket. in other words the stop lights are together(stock) and you'll have to separate them.

Hi,
You can remove original socket in the front and install NAPA LS6428 sockets that will accept the staggered side pins for the 1154 bulb. I think you have to enlarger hole. If you have the original park lenses for the 41 it should be room for the larger bulb. One benefit of the 1154 bulb up in that lense is its easier seen. If you were running 12 volts there is motorcycle bulbs in clear and amber that uses the smaller dome. Not sure if there is any 6 volt staggered side pins with small dome bulbs. Good Luck

Mr.Anteek, check out logo lights from creative connections in Duluth GA.

www.logolites.com, I just added brake/run and turn signals for my T. The kits don't care if it's 6-8-12 volts pos or neg ground, works on them all. Good luck and let us know how you make out with your signals.

FYI, don't use halogen in front lights for brighter lights. will melt the lens. If you go with LEDs there may not be enough amp draw to operate the flasher. can get noload flasher or add a regular bulb(hidden in trunk etc) in each side to increase the load

I just converted my 41 to 12V (just saying), but you should be able to source some bright 6V positive earth LED taillight globes. LED globes can be polarity sensitive, so be sure you get ones that will work with positive earth. Ditto with flasher cans.

As others have said, the front park assemblies can be converted to dual filament globe. You can get a conversion kit from C&G. I have installed them for friends in 40's with no problem (the 41 pass car setup is completely different).

Be aware also that some LED globes (especially the high lumen output units) can be larger than stock and may not fit into the modified park/signal space.

Looked at the C&G conversion kit...12V only. I do have a plan in place to use 1154 bulbs - 6V.

Just found some 6 volt LED bulbs: www.ledlight.com
Am going to try a set of their 1129 bulbs for the brake lights and see how I like them. $5. each.

The units to convert the single filament front park bucket to a dual filament bulb should work with both 6 and 12 V.

Basically you are converting the bucket to the dual filament offset pin bulb. Same as a combo brake/tail light.

Edit: the flasher can (and globes of course) is the only component in the turn signal kit that is voltage sensitive. Everything else is switches and lamp bases.
