Cold starts at Mart's. 33 coupe 41 pickup. Decision time.
Hello! Welcome to another video from Mart's garage. It's time to get the truck and the coupe running after been parked up over the winter. I need to make sure they are running properly as one will receive the rebuilt Crusty Flatty. I decide which one will get the engine swap.
No massive contrived jeopardy. No fuss. Just doin' what we do. Messing with old Fords. I'm trying to build the channel so please click like, leave a comment and subscribe. Thanks a lot. Mart. https://youtu.be/YifAJbuzLFc Last edited by Mart; 04-12-2020 at 07:14 AM. |

Mart: have both of your vehicles been converted to 12 volts?, seems like they spin faster than my '41 coupe. I am subscribed and I always give you a like.

Thanks Vette. yeah, Both 12v. Both crab with points. Both have home made ignition "amplifier" kits from Velleman (as does my roadster). No condensors.
Coupe has SU electric primer pump. Truck has no way of priming but does have the choke hooked up. That's just given me an idea. The coupe has a manual primer on the mech pump. I could swap pumps between the truck and the coupe and that will allow manual priming on the truck. Mart. |

Hey Mart - do you not use a torque wrench for your mains and rods? It kid of looks like you might be over-torqueing the rod bolts . . . just my perception.

I had one of those glass filters on my merc. By chance I checked the engine one day and the damn thing was dripping right on the intake manifold! It surely would have gone up in flames.

Hey Mart, just out of curiosity do you have mechanical or hydraulic brakes on the '33?

What is the part no. for the filter you used on the pickup? I have the same style fuel pump on mine but there is no filter in the bowl.

Thanks for the comments fellas.
Rob: Hydraulic conversion from back in the day on the coupe. 39 pedals. It's not very well done. Redoing it is a backburner job. Way back and not even on the burner. 41: I don't have a part number for the filter. I broke open one of those cheapo plastic filters and used the element out of that. I made a video but never published it. I might put it up as we're all sitting around a lot right now. |

41ford1 Check MAC's catalogue. It shows the fuel filter as P/N A91156A.
