Default Window frame "nutserts"

I am trying to figure out what these are actually called, I call them nutserts because that's what we call them on Jeeps. I need to replace all 6 of them in my doors as I couldn't get the screws out on the drivers side, and I am sure the passenger is going to follow suit. Also, any tips for installation/removal?

Bob Drake catalogs them for early V8 cars. Probably the same thing. I'll see if I can find a link.

Mine didn't have much rust, but a couple of the screws didn't want to come loose. Use a small torch tip to heat the head of the screw a few times until you think the heat has traveled down to the threads, then let it cool and try it again. Sometimes cold water will shock a hot part and loosen it, and that's what I do for carb parts that are stuck.

Sometimes you can clean up the threads with a tap then you don't have to take them out

Here's a link to the Bob Drake catalog.

http://www.bobdrake.com/Images/CAT27...Fs/550-565.pdf

Go to page 560 and look at the "1932 Closed Car Window Frame Tube Nuts." Part number is 1102. These go into the holes in the top of the door and the garnish screws screw into them. I'm pretty sure this is what you want. But, then again, I could be way off base.

like tom w says heat and cool
ive removed many nuts from these things
if its broken short, drill and use a small easy out to losen, then once its loose use a dremel to make a slot in the screw and use a screwdriver to turn it IN as the lower threads will most likey be rusted solid
if you have access from the back side ,heat and use a vice grips to turn the screw IN
just work it back and forth GENTLY,once it moves ,even a little bit put some penetrating oil on it and it will screw right in
,they will all come oput
