"5. I find it ironic that someone would make the accusation that my posting this incident on Ford Barn is “part of the problem with society today”, and yet they used the same forum to post a message making that allegation towards me. Perhaps it is true; as I noticed that another member quoted and agreed with his post in a later message.I respectfully disagree."

Vicky, I read that posting and took it to mean he was on your side and disagreed with Brent.
I took his posting to mean society (the court system) is too forgiving and no one is held responsible for their actions.

Vicky. To many opinion's can sure lead a thread astray. All I will say is that it sounds like you got a attitude and a decent neighbor. Good luck with it, and it can be repaired.

Being pissed off and venting here and elsewhere is a natural thing. Keeping something like that in and letting it fester is what is bad. Venting is supposed to let off pressure and allow things to normalize. The method of venting is important as well.

Get it fixed on his dime, then take him for a ride for a cup of coffee and get to know your neighbor better.

Be careful that he doesn't spill that hot scalding coffee in his lap or you'll have another issue

Vicky, So sorry to see this happen. I honestly can't say how I would have reacted in the same situation. I think you handled yourself very well.

As for the back up sensors that "didn't go off"? IMO that's a lame excuse. I use my back up sensors all the time and love them. But you still have to LOOK!! Even my Modern (2015 Ford FLEX) warns on the screen "Check surrounding area before backing". What if it had been a child behind him? or an Old Phart? like ME??

I feel your pain as I once had an almost identical experience. Had just washed my most prized possession and was going to mow the lawn so I moved the truck to the curb so it would be out of the way. I never park on the street but figured since this was during the week, there wouldn't be a lot of traffic. Before I could get the mower out a young lady plowed into my truck and knocked it onto my neighbors sidewalk. Speed limit was 25 MPH, she had to be doing twice that. She had looked down to change the radio station and blammo!

Please don't ever park a vehicle that you care for on the curb.

Humble Opinion:

Up to 48 different responses and comments on this very kind gentleman's sharing his very interesting and most sad experience about getting bumped while supposedly safely parked in front of his house.

It is always very educational for a gentleman to humbly share such an experience and also instill an important reminder for all of us that our prized cars are never safe no matter where they are.

Different and interesting reported subjects such as this always creates interest.

At least he did not by-pass the Forum's "Search" and ask the 185th millionth question on how to time his Model A ........ where we would get to read the same 200 different kinds of ignition timing responses.

Thanks Vicky for taking the time to take a photo and for sharing your immediate and very normal human thoughts with us.

Please concentrate on posting something else to energize our reactions.

We will never admit it, but our responses to comments such as yours are really not much different from interesting conversations heard in a Women's Beauty Parlor.

........ one of my wife's best friends runs a beauty parlor and she says 'You ought to hear some of the talk that goes on. Sex is one of the hottest topics gets embarrassing some of the things that the ladies say.'

One day last week was favorite kinds of 'lubes' and they weren't comparing detergent vs. non-detergent

Hi Blue,

So hilarious ... over 30 years ago, I once shared a small office with a lawyer, (for about 15 years), whose young secretary was divorced .... at lunch time the lawyer went to lunch ..... later I knew why ... his young divorced secretary had about 4 other young divorced secretaries come over to eat sandwiches, chit-chat, and share their new wild erotic dating experiences ... in not trying to eaves drop, the dividing wall to my office was wood paneling on both sides, which like a guitar, amplified their most private conversations.

Every day was about a new experience ... mostly, under the sheets .... and every now and then I would hear ..... "Oh don't worry about him, he can't here through that wall."

After about three months, like the lawyer, I also began going out to lunch.

Amazing, but after looking at so many of our chit-chat responses herein, some men could sit under a hair dryer or a hair curler 24/7 and chit chat all day long with thousand of comments about non-detergent oil and whitewall tires ..... our next generation may discuss who made the best Fax machines. LOL

Life is so short ..... let us all never get too serious and let us try to help others to enjoy every minute.

If you talk too harshly about something, such as this, sure enough, you will do something similar, yourself.
