Default Clutch plate

What would be the sign of a clutch disc installed backwards? Clutch has to be pressed to the floor board to shift. Also it's a bear as far as pressure is concerned. It is tough. New clutch and pressure plate. ?????????? Tony

If the plate is in backwards it won't release.

You will need to adjust the trunion assembly between the clutch pedal and the clutch release lever when you install a new disk. Often it takes quite a bit of adjustment.
Good day!

The throwout bearing return spring should return the clutch pedal to the up position, and you should be able to push the clutch pedal with your finger to feel the freeplay. After about 3/4" to 1" of freeplay you should have to push the pedal hard with your foot to disengage the clutch disc. If, after adjusting the trunion at the clutch pedal for the proper freeplay, you still can't make the clutch disengage by pressing the clutch pedal all the way, then the arm on the clutch release shaft may have a crack or the disc might be sticking on the splines, or the disc may be bent. I've also seen the springs in the disc come out of place and cause problems.

If the disc is installed backwards the center hub would be scraping on the flywheel mounting bolts, and this should be obvious at the time of installation.
