Re: Howell's Sheetmetal
Shipping is a huge problem with them. If he has it in stock you will get it in about 10 days. If he has to make it, you could wait months. I find the quality OK and the pricing competitive but you have a better chance of getting your items if you can find it on his ebay store site. Do a search and you will find the horror stories.

Re: Howell's Sheetmetal
Due to the many negative comments I'd read about dealing with them, I've never bought from them outside of their ebay store. However, the cowl panels I bought from them for my '29 were delivered in a week and fit perfectly.

From my experience I recommend that you do not buy directly from him. Buy from a dealer who stocks his products. You will have a much better chance of actually getting the parts you order.

Re: Howell's Sheetmetal
I know there will be mixed reviews here, but from my end here I have nothing but good things to say about them. The quality and fit were excellent, and the service I received was very good. Shipping was quick, but even faster if you buy thru ebay.

I have to agree with this comment. I ordered a deck lid and lower turtle deck panel for my 27 roadster about 2 years ago. Came in about 2 to 3 weeks. I recently ordered cowl panels and quarter panels for my 27 roadster pickup. Ordered on November 27th and received them in the second week of Feburary. A little slow? Well, ya, just a little wouldn't you think?.......................11 weeks? Next time i will order from one of their suppliers, but i will make sure they have it in stock first. |

Re: Howell's Sheetmetal
Stay away from them directly, buy from ebay. The panels are never perfect and always need work before going in. I got my parts 4 months after ordering from them and it took me to file a claim to do so. Just my 2 cents....

Re: Howell's Sheetmetal
Guess I'm one of the lucky ones, but I live close enough to deal with Ryan (the owner) personally. More than once, he has stayed open late, just to help me. I don't know him well, but I do know he is 3rd gen. in this business, so he's been around A's his whole life. He's always been extremely cordial, and gone the extra mile to help. Actually, I feel pretty fortunate, as I can just about say the same thing of everyone I've met in the Model A world.

Stay away from Howell's if you can. Parts are not very good.

Re: Howell's Sheetmetal
I am not pleased at all with there service. Sheet metal, not perfect. Shipping, when they want. Trouble is, i don't know anyone else that makes 26-27 sheet metal parts. Don't think Rootlieb makes any. If anyone knows, please share.
