Default Brake Rod Return Spring Confusion

The description and photo of the Brake Rod Return Springs in the 7-8 Revised 2011 of the Standards has some slight confusion within.

The confusion lies in the verbage of the Service Brake Rod Springs.

Within the verbage of the text it states that #2 was used from May 1928 through September 1928, that it was tapered with an open end and made of 19 or 20 gauge steel.

In the photo, it shows that #2 has a closed end and the verbage beneath the photo states that #2 was used from December 1927 through mid 1928.

#1 has a open end and used from May 1928 through September 1928.

Will someone in the know please set the story stright on the first two generation Service Brake Return Springs?

Thanks.

Pluck

I had to read it a couple times also.

Ignore the numbering...it applies only to the photo not the sequence of release.

To match the photo the descriptions would be kabeleS 2,1,3,4,5,6

I wish they would have put the springs in the same order as the descriptions

Clear as mud

Thanks Jim for that.

So to make the "mud" clear...The verbage UNDER THE PHOTO is the correct sequence of these springs in relation to the photo...correct? In other words, the "photo" of the springs is out of order...Correct?

So for a July 1928 chassis, I would want the Service Spring with the open end as displayed and described in the photo?

What is "kabeleS"?

Along with this...It also states for the first generation spring in one area: "December 1927 through April 1928 (Early 1928)".

In another area below the photo it states: "December 1927 through mid 1928 (August 1928)".

OK...Which is correct?

Thanks.

UPDATE...

Besides the photo showing #1 and #2 out of place (in reverse progression order) as Jim mentions above, the caption below the picture is not correct. It should read: "December 1927 through April 1928", just like the text bullet describes in the Standards.
