Re: Pronunciations
See Youtube for a genuine. official 1940 Ford advertising film ("The New1940 Ford", as I recall) announcing the new "koo-pay". SinceFord said "koo-pay", that's good enough for me (and should be for all of you, too)!

In Portland Or we have Benson Bubblers, they were gifted to the city by Simon Benson back in 1912. https://www.portlandoregon.gov/water/article/352768 I have never known anyone that has a Willis Jeep, a Willys yes.

Re: Pronunciations
Simon Benson, while not born there, does have a Wisconsin connection and was a lumber baron.

Re: Pronunciations
Guess I will add since I started this nonsense, ive always said fa-ton. Our English gents may have a better grasp on this one though- 'Brough Superior'. I say broff, but I have heard many say bro (to me that's someone on the street, lol).
btw, living just below the mason Dixon line, there is a mix between creek and crick. I grew up with crick and that's where it stands, but then again my grandparents were from the deepest, darkest part of VA! |
