Help troubleshoot speedometer
My 5 year ground-up restoration of my Fordor is finally finished! I drove it on the road on Monday, and it was the first time it had seen pavement since the 60's. it was also my first time ever driving a model A on the road! Thanks fordbarners for all of your help.
My speedometer did not work though. I pulled the cable from the drive gear assembly and put a drill to it and the speedometer worked as it should. What do you suggest I check, or what do think the problem most likely is? I am hoping that it is not the drive gear on the end of the drive shaft. Does this fail very often? Other info. that may be helpful- original drive gear, original gear assembly(both appeared good in restoration), new speedo, cable and housing. Cable is identical to original taken off (just not as rusty). Thanks in advance. |
