Question Safe max HP for a stock frame

I am considering a few options to boost the power to my 1940 Ford sedan.
How much power can the frame safely sustain before you should box it?
I think that the most I would consider is approx. 300hp, with a 4 speed auto trans and 3.73 gears.

Lots of guys long before you (including me) have done as much and more, without the need for boxing.......have at it. Sound frame to start with, of course. DD

No need to worry, frame will be fine. There is also a gert Big sedan body bolted to it, that ads some rigidity.
300 hp, were talking flathead here with a supercharger yes? 300 over head valve hp will make the 40 upset, unless it's an ardun or similar.
Martin.

This 34 is not boxed most of the mounts are bolt on and has been running a blown 350 C*8V [500 +HP] since back in the 80's I have seen it run a flat 11 seconds, lifting the left wheel completely off the ground.. Its currently running a tunnel ram as it was driven all the way to Tasmania and back, many times it has crossed our continent [with the blower] to national hot rod shows. It belongs to Nev Anderson , he is one of our founding hot rodders here in Western Australia..

My first thought is a late 50's hemi - max. 354 cu in. Inspiration comes from Don Garlitts. His museum has a couple of 40's in his personal collection in Ocala. They are stunning.
