Default Price for good 3 speed

What should I expect to pay for a good operating 3 speed for my 1948 f1?
Does anyone have one they will sell?

Used, open drive light duty floor shift trans with perfect gears, but may need to be freshened up, around $500. One that is ready to go, $800-1,000.

No idea on heavy-duty 3 speed or column shift.

Bob
I have my eye on one that is converted to open drive, but didn't want to buy it until I found out if it would work for me. That's why I have all the questions.
I also would like to find one cheaper and maybe closer to me if possible.

Either way, I would really check any trans out before re-installing it. Makes no sense putting back in a worn out into the truck. It's a lot work taking one out.
