I did that because:

1 - plugging the holes would have ruined the paint
2 - the car was originally a rumble seat car
3 - although I did not do the change to a trunk lid, it shows what this body was originally
4 - it makes folks wonder and ask the question you just did! Lol!

Lastly, the theme was I found this rolling body and frame and dropped in the drivetrain of what might have been a late 50s early 60s build. That’s my story and I am sticking to it! Lol!

Yes, the 5-speed departs from that but I knew I was going to drive the wheels off of it and it’s the only way to go imho - from what I remember as kid back in that time frame, real hot rods had 3 pedals ...
