Model A interior and wheel color questions...
Can't seem to find these answers....
What would have been the original interior color for a black 1930 Tudor... gray or tan..... or could it have been either one? I noticed the MAFCA charts don't list black as an optional wheel color for a black Tudor. Would it be "incorrect" by judging standards to have them black? They're painted a random non-Ford color, so I'm gonna paint them black either way, but I was just curious. Previous owner restoration with no pinstripe BTW. Thanks! |

Re: Model A interior and wheel color questions...
The 30 tudor could have had blue hairline stripe, brown check, or gray check interior. It was not matched to the exterior color, so it could be any of them.
Until june 1930, all wheels came black from the factory. In july 1930, colored wheels became an extra cost option. The wheels were then offered in a color that matched the pin stripe. The 1930 black tudor would have had vermillion striping until september, then apple green. |

They all came from the factory with a pinstripe or could it have come without one? I mainly see red, a few green. Honestly, I was thinking about maybe doing this as a 1930 police car (magnets, not permanent lettering).

The cars all had pinstripe and it's described in the "Paint and Finish Guide". If you use magnetic signs don't leave them on for very long. Because the magnets aren't perfectly smooth and are pulled to the steel, they do leave a mark in your paint.

So my pinstripe choices are only apple green or vermillion?

Re: Model A interior and wheel color questions...
Just noticed the stripe colors available for a 1930 Tudor. Back in the late 70's my uncle purchased a low mile early 30 Tudor, the engine was stamped the first week of January, so most likely a Feb. or March build. This is an original stamped engine, and the frame matched.
We stripped off 2-3 coats of brushed on black paint, and got to the original color, which was black. There were also traces of the original pin stripe, which was a sort of straw/mustard yellow sort of color. Never thought to take a picture of it. Wheels were (and still are) black. It also had the blue hairline stripe interior when new. My dad and uncle were both of the opinion that black was ok for a Model T, but a Model A should be a bit flashier, so it was repainted in the Elkpointe/Kewanee green combination, with an apple green pinstripe. Interior was changed to brown check material
