Gaslight history question

Does anyone here remember when Gaslight bought the dies and started producing fenders? Seems like it was sometime in the early 80's.Then that makes me wonder how many they have stamped out since they started.

I have no idea. When I first saw the thread title I thought you were referring to the antique car parade "Gas Light Parade" that takes place outside of Daytona each year..

I would have said late 70s but it might have been early 80s.

What got me thinking about Gaslight is I know somebody who has a set of their fenders that are still new, but were stamped, he thinks in the 80's. I'm thinking that they would be early , and maybe would be a closer fit than the ones made now on more worn-out dies. Does this make sense to anyone other than me?

I put on a rear and front fender from Gas Light in 2001 on my 31 coupe. They fit without too much tweaking and still look good. However, I have read that later made fenders were some trouble. Therefore, if you have some from the eighties, my guess is that they should fit fairly well.

The best that I remember, the Gaslight fenders came out around seventy six or seven.

They never were correct. I bought a pair in 1982 though I don't know how much earlier they were available. They fit Gaslight running board aprons somewhat better than originals. The main thing was to use them in pairs as the front droops compared to originals. This is not to say that current production is even worse. For those wondering why they are so bad, supposedly Gaslight had the dies made based on a NROS Fostoria fender which was manufactured back-in-the-day and obviously not the same as the original Ford.
