Information: Transmission shaft seal...
City:
Coeur d'Alene
State:
ID
1946 1-1/2 ton, 226, 4-spd. The truck sat for 25 years. Now after a drive a bunch of gear oil drips down from the output shaft of the transmission. I'm just a young guy with a lot of mechanical knowledge, but this is my first old truck so I'm not familiar with how they sealed these things back then. On a new truck they would call it a transmission output shaft seal, but I see no listing for that in my Mac's catalog. I see a universal joint gasket set, but it doesn't look like shaft seals to me. Can anyone steer me in the right direction so I can get the parts I need here before I tear in to it.
Thanks for any help. |

Re: Information: Transmission shaft seal...
We stock parts for the old Ford truck 4 speed trannies. The rear oil seal sells for $7.00. The complete trans gasket set sells for $19.50 (it does not include the seal, just paper gaskets). We also have the clutch shafts, shaft bushings, TO bearings, gears, etc. Here is the link to our trans parts prices on the 4 speed:
