Default 31 Slant Window Town Sedan

Are the Swing arms different or the same as other 31 Model A,s. The arms I have on car now will not go all the way up to vertical. Any help would be great, also any pictures. Thanks

I am not sure what you mean by 'swing arms'.

The two arms that hold the front windshield out. One on each side. Thanks

The windshield will not go up to vertical, it will only open enough to allow for wind flow.
I can send pics of mine, but it's snowing right and freezing in the garage.

As far as I know the '30-31's are all the same (thinner than the early A's). The windshield is vertical in the closed position. I have had A's where the "arms" wouldn't go all the way vertical with the windshield closed but angled out a little. I'm assuming the windshield is higher in the opening so the arm is trying to pull the windshield down when moving the arm up to vertical. Could be the wrong gasket between the top of the windshield frame and the opening. Slantwindows had a gasket/weatherstrip unique to that model. Check Bratton's description on part number 30180. Or just years of compression?

Ok, now I understand. The arms in my 30 will almost go vertical but when I close it really, tightly I hear the gasket getting squished. So I assume that is holding it up.
