Default Bob Drake Water Pumps

Tried to order 48- to 52 truck pumps, heard they were the best pumps going They are out of stock on ALL of their pumps.

Just realized Dennis Carpenter is also out of stock.

Van Pelts out of stock

I sent them an e mail and this was the reply"With no open purchase order for the parts I have to say they're at least 6 months out and likely a bit longer than that." It sounds to me like they have not/may not ordered any more.

Does any one have any suggestions.
Thanks, Marty

Try some of the V-8 parts vendors who advertise in the V-8 Times as they may have some on the shelf.

There are some brand new pumps on Ebay but I don't know where they are made.
Might also be possible to buy a used pair and have Skip rebuild them.

I just ordered a pair of water pumps for my '41 from Dennis Carpenter yesterday, and their site does not show out of stock today. Hoping they will help with my hot day idle overheat problem.

I guess 48-52 truck would be the key words. Just went back to Carpenter's site, all I could find was a left hand pump. More expensive than buying a pair, which I need.
Thanks any way.

I've mentioned it before but I'll mention it again anyway about the source for all this stuff coming from the same supplier. It's easy to add names & numbers to a core mold prior to making up cores for casting. All this stuff is a luxury to me. No one makes any new pumps for my old Mercury cars so I overhaul them myself. They don't have skips impeller but they work as good as the OEM parts did.

Look in the V-8 Times and see Daryl Fryer's ad. I've used his pumps and they are excellent. He will also rebuild yours.

Of ALL these after market pumps being made NONE
of them move half the coolant through the engine in
5 minutes as Skips do. He has a water pump test
machine and has tested almost every brand made.
I have seen some with loose cast iron flashed to the
internal passages that had less than half their normal
flow. He drilled a hole in the very bottom and with a
long 1/4" carbide tool was able to clear the obstructions.
The close tolerances he holds make every pump he modifies
put out same flow. Every one is tested for close to 10
minutes and the results recorded in his test book. This
includes the date and who they were shipped to. In over
20 years NO ONE has ever paid for repairs if they have a
problem. G.M.

Not George posting from an undisclosed location needing something, must deal only from the parts houses. When it comes to water pumps, quite common for spares to be bought and perhaps never used. We in that class will never know if he is just beyond the back fence as too often we get the useful information withheld. The expense of single pumps seems to matter while privately held parts are usually cheaper than dealer plus shipping. Poor Not George. Like to wish ya luck but....

Daryl Fryer's pumps work as well as any I have ever used and he stands behind everyone he rebuilds or sells. The difference is he doesn't tout his own product on websites.

I see what you're saying here, but how else is the little guy supposed to get the word out? I am probably the world's smallest vendor with my "Trash Can" condensers and 6 volt "Tachometer Drivers", and the only way I can get word out about what I make is on the various enthusiasts boards. Several people have expressed their appreciation for what I have available, and I myself get most of my information about specialty manufacturers and services from the boards. In addition, the price is right. I suppose I could put and ad in the "V8 Times", but that has a significant cost to someone like me and only hits a small segment of my target market.
