Default Door check question

I have a 36 pickup. I was needing to know what is used in the little hole in the strap to the bracket on the cab? A little bolt was in there when I took things apart. It wasn't factory because each door didn't have the same bolt in it.
Thanks
Mark

Not really a great picture, but it can give you an idea of what it looks like. I believe (and Mr Rogers will correct me if I am incorrect) that the door frame bracket was fastened with a split rivet. And inside the door, was a cotter pin.

1938 cars had a flat washer, and a rubber bumper on the strap inside the door, trucks may be the same, and a cotter pin to hold them on
