Talking In quest of my first "A"

Attended my 2nd club meeting last night. What a friendly group of people ready, able and willing to discuss A's in general or specifically their own car! Funny thing though, I noticed that each person recommended whatever style that they drive! Lol

"Tried on" both a Fordor as well as a coupe. I fit fine in the coupe but felt like the steering column "up" angle would get very tiring after a few miles.

•Just HOW do you cut the package shelf and remount the seat?

Could you guys give me the pros and cons of a Vicky?!

Bill

You dont cut the package shelf, you just take it out.

The vicki is very roomy in the front seat and one of my favorite styles. Has a tremendous
amount of entry room as well, with the big doors.

There is always a strong demand for the vicki, because it was only made for 1 1/2 years, so easy to resell should you want to try another "flavor".

Bill-
How tall are you? That can play into the body style you will be comfortable in.

And how close do you seem to be sitting to the steering column when behind the wheel?

The Slant Windshield Town Sedan probably has the most front seat room and option to adjust the front seat back the furthest, if you need leg room (like I do). That's why I have one.

Later coupes ('30-31) have adjustable seats, which can help you fit easier than in the '28-29 versions.

Roadster seats and touring car (phaeton) seats are fixed. If you don't fit, you only have one option to get more room: install a thinner than stock back spring cushion and/or bottom spring cushion to get a bit more room behind the wheel. My Dad put a thinner seat back cushion in his phaeton. (BTW, he is selling that car. PM me for details.)

The Tudor, Vicky, and 2-door deluxe phaeton have wider doors than the other cars, making getting in and out easier.

The Tudor Sedan was the most popular body style when the Model a was new, and it is still popular today for the same reasons. It's also the lowest cost option to get into a Model A.

Test drive lots of cars before you fall in love with one. You'll be glad you did.

Good to hear about its popularity!

Still wondering whether or not the seats are adjustable?
