Hello: Need 1939 4 door convertable front windshield seal with grove for chrome trim.
I can find it without the grove who has the proper seal with grove?

You will look forever with no positive result, The 39 convertible windshield gasket does not have a seal groove for the stainless ring. I think you are confusing this with the 1941-48 style gasket that has a stainless ring applied to the seal rubber. The stainless steel trim is a separate ring on a 37-40 and captures the pinch weld of the window opening sheet metal. The gasket to seal the glass is applied around the glass and installed from the rear and held in place with the windshield garnish molding.

There is no grove in the rubber for the stainless trim, the trim is attached to the "A" pillar windshield surround, the glass fits into the rubber and the unit (glass & rubber) fit into the opening and the windshield, interior garnish molding helps secure the windshield.

chris---They are just about impossible to find. Drake makes them for his stainless trim but i haven`t seen them sold separately. You could call and ask. I made a bunch years ago. I got a whole shop full of sheet metal equipment and ended up using an ordinary vice for the bends. No hi tech here. I didn`t have any originals to copy. I found a 1/2 scale picture of one in the 28-38 hardware catalogue. Its available in repro. From that I knew the shape and size and made them so they fit the stainless trim snug and under the windshield properly. I used about 22-24 ga. stainless and they turned out very well. ---barry

Barry,
I tried Drake years ago.
I can get replicas made but it sure would be nice to have originals.
Thanks,
Chris.NZ.

Is it possdible to install the trim after the rubber and glass are in, or would it take to many beers?

Barry,
I had some made.
Perfect copies using band-it stainless steel strapping.
Regards,
Chris.
