I worked for a year at the VA hospital doing clinicals for X-ray tech program. I loved talking to the WWII vets. Man the stories.

Recently I was in the waiting room for an appointment and talked to a guy that was in the Pacific during the war. Coming up on 100 years old and sharp as a tack. He was a Navy Seabee. Said they were frantically trying to build as many hospitals in the Philippines (I think) because of the expected casualties of a Japan invasion. He actually said, "Thank God for the atomic bomb".
