Default 8BA pistons have 825 stamped on them.

The pistons in my 8ba are stamped with 825. The motor has a rebuild tag from Southern Automotive Engines inc, Owensboro Kentucky, so anyone have any information on these pistons and what size they are?

.0825mm equals .00324 inches. Could that be indicative of something to do with
cylinder bore or piston configuration? Maybe it was some type of assembly code.

Sounds like some one removed the sleeves. measure the bore.

Don't think 8BA's ever had factory thin wall sleeves. But the .0825" over pistons used when sleeves were removed were a common size. Very simple for the rebuilder to rebore a worn 8BA to that size and use those pistons. No sleeves need be involved!

Measure the piston skirt 90 deg from the pin and tell us what u get. This isn't rocket science.

Hey John. New project?

A set of .0825 was on ebay recently... They existed. Just an oddball piston size for when people removed sleeves in earlier engines.

Sleeved engines were 221 cu ins. The finished bore was 3.0625"
Sleeve was .040" wall thickness, requiring a hole 3.142" for sleeve.
That hole was honed to 3.145" that ended up a 3.0625"+.0825"=3.145"
That is smaller than a stock 8ba bore. Can't be the combination op has.

The early mercury 40/41 used the steel sleeves also and it was 3 3/16"
Same bore as an 8BA.

That is why I asked for piston measurement.

The Ford 9N, 2N and 8N tractor engines were basically 1/2 of a 239 V8 with the 3 3/16" bore and thin wall sleeves and same pistons as the V8. Removing sleeves and installing .0825" over pistons was common practice.
