39 fuel sender
Tank is out and at radiator shop getting cleaned.
Before bringing to radiator shop, I removed the sending unit. Thankfully it was works great. I had replaced the cork float (with a metal one) years ago when I purchased the car. While out, it could use a good cleaning as well. A lot of sediment build up. Planning to use tool bath cleaner on it with soft brush. Unless someone has better idea.

Light cleaning would be fine. Other than that remember “ If it is not broken don’t fix it” Tom |

Re: 39 fuel sender
I wouldn't immerse it, the top part is not designed to be under the liquid level, not like a more modern unit.

Thank gents.
Mart glad you pointed out about top. I was not aware. My logic would have been the gas would get in there when fulll tank.

Oh no!
Don't submerge top of unit. It's not water proof even though there is a thin rubber gasket inside the lid. Remember. it's not an "in tank" unit. |

Re: 39 fuel sender
I found acetone excellent for removing old fuel residue.
