Default Cowl lights- AV8 Roadster

A little out of place here, but I'm considering '32 cowl lights for my '29 open wheel roadster project. Any opinions? Thanks!

Pete,

It's your car, put I wouldn't do it. Less is more in my opinion. Especially on a roadster.

I just don't like other alternatives for turn signals / parking lights. Ant the stock A cowl lights don't look good either...

Pete, that’s why God gave us a left arm. Turn signals are built right in. It’s a hot rod, my man.

Problem is, nobody knows what hand signals mean anymore - they think you're waving or flipping them off.

God gave me a left arm but I think he (with my help) has taken away my shoulders.

I'm with Tim Ayers, less is more...more or less

I don't think lights mounted on the cowl will look good. How about some small turn/parking lights on the front frame horns? Or maybe Guide style headlights with the turn/parking lights on top:

Sadly, at least half the drivers on the road today are clueless when it comes to hand signals. Some even interpret them as urging them to pass. I've seen some scary things happen to bicycle riders (that fraction that know which side of the road to ride on) using hand signals.

The smaller cowl lamps will likely look OK. The ones for 1929 are a bit large with the flat lens and there is really only one way to mount them unless you fabricate custom arms or something like that. Lucas used to make all sorts of fender tip lights and stuff like that but they are hard to come by here in the USA.

I have a beautiful set of A cowl lights that I'm using on the 27 T roadster, because I like them. most Modern drivers have no idea what a right turn signal iz.

When I built my roadster I shaved the original cowl lights and left the signals off the front. You only really need rear turn signals anyway.

Maybe think about mounting the smaller light closer to the door.

Yep, some people like 'em. Believe it or not, when I bought a complete '34 sedan delivery in 1968, I was more excited that it still had it's cowl lights than I was about the fact that it was a sedan delivery!

Mine are mounted inside my 32 headlights used amber bulb to help distinguish them. When not used you can hardly see them.

Well, I've made a decision. I'm using the '32 cowl lights but not on the cowl. This is just a mock up...

Man, that thing's downright purdy with that black lid up and latched. What a cool shot! DD
