Default Cabriolet Folding Irons - Snaps

I have seen photos of Cabriolets with two snaps on each folding iron and I've seen some that have a snap at the center location and a screw with a countersunk trim washer at the front. Ours is a 1930 68B. The photos I've seen don't show enough of the car to tell which model I'm looking at. Could someone clarify this subject for me?
Thanks

the 68A`s had two different top irons, on all the 68B`s the folding arms are the same, the lock is called the thumb lock. and it is the same lock set up used on the 68C`s and A400 if that helps. here is a picture of the lock

Our car has the pull up door handle. Wasn't the rotating door handle only in the 68C?

My question is how snaps are used to hold the top to the folding iron. I don't understand why it would have anything with thumb lock, unless the lever lock and thumb lock had different snap arrangements?

The early irons had the lever type.
They lock the irons striaight.

I have the dimensions for making your own. You will need a lathe and a mill to do it.

NO, the late 30 and early 31 68B`s had rotating handles like the 68C`s, but the doors and cowl are completely different.

I don't understand how the subject got changed to the type lock was in the folding irons? I need to know how many snaps were used to hold the top to the folding irons, one or two per side?

There are 2 snaps on each side . I found a supplier but the 8/32 threaded part is to long and will have to be shortened . I may have some extras but will have to check . Norm

Our folding irons are reproductions that we bought from Synder's. They have #10-32 threaded holes at both locations. Synder's has the #10-32 snap studs. I think some of the upholstery shops furnish the snap studs with their tops?
Thanks

I have snap on each side. I'm a a late 30 Cabby. I never snap them. If I forget the snap pulled out of the cloth easily.

Mine is a late 68A which is likely the same top as an early 68B. My folding iron has two standard male snaps held by 10-32 oval slotted head screws with small heads. I used ss screws grinding the heads to properly fit the screw hole in the snap. After fitting the screw head to the snap, I cut the screw threads to a proper appearing length. The f-snaps, which attach to the inner flap of the top, are exposed for the front snap location, and hidden for the mid-window location snap. I used a L-B top kit and took a lot of photos during the installation.

Photos can be seen at: http://public.fotki.com/RussB/my_car...er/page11.html
Photos from #707 to #814 are mostly of the top installation.

I studied the photo albums on the Bob Johnson cabriolet site, but found there were many variations of installation details from car to car. I feel my top installation is pretty faithful to the original design.
