Default 1936 rear shock position

I have rear lever shocks for my 1936 coupe. Should the filler tube face up or down and should the filler face the front or the rear of the car.
Any pictures would help me thanks.

The filler should face up and to the centre of the car ,at least mine do ,may not be correct but when its on the hoist the mechanic can service them easer ? Facing in .on the front the fender stay could obstruct the fill process ,I think if you swapped left to right to get the filler out ward it would orient them up side down ,
