Default Can't even complete a simple job like a step plate.

I get so tired of this Vintique junk or whoever makes the rumble seat step pads. All I wanted to do was attach to the bumper brace and first I didn't even have a wrench to fit must be metric if a 7/16" is too small and a 1/2" is too big.Doesn't even fit the bumper brace width with the two drilled holes and a step milled or cast into mounting post, junk. I do usually look for original but just thought I would get something on for my grandsons to climb up. Guess I will have to mill, grind or drill oversize holes into what looks like a powdercoated finish.

Hmm, I just replaced my rumble seat steps and this is not a problem I had. Are you talking about the bracket or the step plate? Square or round?

Round the step pads are fine but the clamp post on bumper bracket will not fit .Bracket is too wide for the two bolts to fit even after I elongated the holes in clamp.I will look for an original or call Steve at Bert's which I shoulda done first anyway.

That Sux. I stay away from Vintique junk like the plague.

Check out this cowl light arm for my '30 Town Sedan that I keep around for a reminder. Not cheap at $105 a pair.

Nice 'fit' on the screws.

The crappy vintique step plate on the bumper of my roadster snapped at the stud and almost injured me when getting in. The problem is that it never seems to get tight. The new one has the same issue, so I put a lockwasher under the plate which has made it better.

I had to name my 29 CCP to Vinney, after all the Vintique reproduced crap. I am sure it its just as easy to manufacture something that fits , works, as required .

It should be bolted to the right hand (passenger side for left hand drive cars) bumper arm.

That is where I am trying to place the one I bought from Brattons and again the bumper arm is wider than the two drilled holes will allow the bolts to clear the width of the arm. .In other words the center to center is much smaller or shorter than the width of the arm.I even tooh a Dremel and elongated the holes and still way off.I will use an original if I find a good one.I know where the step goes as I removed a broken original one .

Steve, received the step pad post today and very pleased as usual with your (Bert's) original parts. It fits great and what surprised me was it is copper so no wonder it was not rusted.Mayby original or mayby an early replacement I don't care it fits.Thank You for reading nd responding to my post.
