Default Proper oil and grease source for the A

Without going into details at this point...

Here is a guys that is making up old style oils required to run oil locomotives. Keep in mind the correct grease for the A is likely cylinder oil soda soap grease. There are certail properties that are unique and special that make it proper for the U joint in the A and other places.

The guy is very knowledgeable and is moving into correct lubricants for old cars. My brother talked to him for a while and is digesting what was said. There may be some science based reasons why certain popular methods of lubricating the A are not good.

Things to consider:
Is the motor oil warm enough to work right? You may need a thermostat to keep the temp up.

Is the grease/oil being held in place properly. The properties of the older grease or oil mixes are likely much more different then what is used today. This required different mechanical designs to get proper lubrication.

Anyway, a lot of new information about the types of old oil and grease formulations from the time. This guy is selling smaller quantities of what is likely to be a more correct lubricant. It is worth a look. The website has some explainations of how the oils worked back then and why some of todays stuff is not right.
