master cylinder
Somewhere on the search page I found a sketch or picture showing the brake cross shaft being used to activate a master cylinder under the passanger seat or floor board. Can someone help me find it again?
Thanks in advance. Jim |

Re: master cylinder
I am leaning towards the heavy duty battery box that incorporates a mount for the master cylinder but I haven't made the jump yet and would appreciate comments from anyone that has gone that way

Re: master cylinder
I have the battery box shown on ebay. I have used it for three years and it works very well. It looks low but the front axle is much lower, never a problem. .I like having separate front and rear circuits.

Re: master cylinder
I've done this one three times. And, the price is right. FYI, there is a reinforcement piece that bolts to the cross member where it was notched for the T-5 installation.

Re: master cylinder
Here is a battery box "KIT" that bolts on. All the engineering has been done. No cutting or welding. Use original brake rod hookup.

Re: master cylinder
Benson: That's the "box" or one very similar under discussion.

Re: master cylinder
The box Benson showed has a single circuit master cylinder. The box from Dave on ebay has a two circuit-front and rear-maser cylinder. I think this is much safer and is what I use. If you break a line you still have two wheels with brakes.

Re: master cylinder
What am I missing here? Why would you pay $345 for a master cylinder/battery box when you could install an MC under the passenger side floor with easy access for under $50? And, you retain the stock linkage that can be used for mechanical brakes at a later date.

Re: master cylinder
Thanks, Denis for your reply. I think I am going to put the master cylinder on the passenger side. I would just like to get all the positive input that I can get. I truely would like some pictures or drawings showing this setup.

Re: master cylinder
Do you still use the stock model a rear hub/drum with the 40's hydraulics?

The hydraulics will probably be from a late-30's to late-40's Ford and will be 12" brakes. The Model A drums are 11". |
