I have a 38/39 221 flathead for sale. 81A heads, aluminum intake. Engine looks to be mostly all original. Engine isn't all rust on the outside as most are, looks to have been out of the weather. Engine is on a test stand and you can hear it run. No water leaks, no water in the oil. Oil pressure is 15 lbs hot at a slow idle, goes up to about 20/25 when you rev it up, no oil leaks. Has 60 lbs compression in all cylinders.Has some exhaust smoke and some blowby out the breather. Engine is very quiet with mufflers on it, no knocking or bearing noises. This is a good rebuilder. ASKING $650.00. This could be a 239 Mercury as I have not pulled a head to check the bore or the shape of the water passages.
