Default 226 G, anyone used a Petronixs on one?

my 42 Fordor still has the G 226 in it. It has a bad distributor, the connector to the points springs is broken, yes it can be fixed. I am debating on going to Petronix ignition. has anyone used one of these on a six cylinder?

6 volt or 12 volt? The 12 volt units are pretty good, but the 6 volt units are suspect. Are you planning on keeping the stock generator charging system? If so, be aware that voltage spikes they produce can wipe out a Pertonix unit in a heart beat. Better you should plan on changing a set of points every 20,000 miles.

Whether you have 12 volts or 6 volts is meaningless until you find out if there is indeed a conversion available for your flathead 6 cylinder engine.

it is the crab style distributor, 12v with a Delco style one wire alternator. There is a 12v Petronix for this according to the Ebay ad.
