Default Gas tanks

Somewhere I read an article concerning gas tanks. The article mentioned a transitional tank that was not of the indented firewall type but used the later
steering column support. My slant window has such a tank. Does anyone remember seeing this article and where?

Thanks.

I do know that owners have installed the later column mount of cars but I'm not aware of a transitional tank. Ford went to the indented tank in May of 1931, because of state regulations demanding the cut off not be in the passenger compartment. The steering support also was introduced in May 1931.

Probably Steve Plucker's article. http://www.plucks329s.org/gastank.htm
This is a picture of one in my early 1931 AA.

Fire wall not tank? Indented firewall uses a modified tank, (fuel line and shutoff is different) Not aware of a transitional version of the tank. May 1931 pp.560 shows the changes to the new tank in detail with the steering shaft support included.

See page 16 in the link I posted above. The tank was for the flat firewall
but used the dash mounted steering column bracket.
