U joint rebuild

Help, installed new bushings in u joint and now need to install c clips . Any tricks to getting theses things in??? 1930 pickup thanks

Can you post a pic of the ujoint you are working on, that will help.

On the early Ford type U-joint, just make sure the C-ring grooves align with the slots in the yokes. The C-rings can then be pressed into the grooves.

Be careful with those C-rings! They are made of spring steel and will fight you when pressing them on. Wear eye protection in case one takes flight and grip it securely so it doesn't get away from you. I had one get loose and, after hearing it ricochet around the garage, I never could find it.
